SIMPSONVILLE, SC – Authorities are investigating a tragic incident involving a homicide and suicide after two individuals were found deceased inside a residence in Simpsonville earlier this week.
According to the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a welfare check request at a home on Appian Circle on March 24, 2026. Upon arrival, law enforcement officers discovered both individuals deceased inside the residence.
Investigators revealed that both individuals had sustained at least one gunshot wound. A firearm was found near the male, later identified as 75-year-old Daryl Lynn Dobson. An autopsy conducted on March 25, 2026, confirmed the identities of the deceased as 73-year-old Gloria Jean Dobson and her husband, Daryl Lynn Dobson, both of Simpsonville.
The Greenville County Coroner’s Office ruled Gloria Dobson’s death a homicide, stating that she died as a result of gunshot wounds. Daryl Dobson’s death was ruled a suicide, with the cause determined to be a gunshot wound to the head.
In a further somber detail, authorities reported that two dogs and a bird were also found deceased inside the residence.
The investigation remains active, with law enforcement officials continuing to review the circumstances surrounding this tragic event. No additional details have been released at this time.
