Jordan Thoms Ottawa, ON Obituary-Death

It is with deep sadness that we mourn the passing of Jordan Thoms, a cherished leader, friend, and pillar of Ottawa’s running community. His sudden loss is felt profoundly by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him, running alongside him, and experiencing the warmth and encouragement he so freely gave.

As the dedicated run lead of the Sparks Street Run Club, Jordan was far more than an organizer—he was the heart and spirit of the group. His incredible ability to bring people together created a space where runners of all levels felt welcomed, supported, and inspired. Whether it was someone’s very first run or a seasoned athlete pushing their limits, Jordan made every individual feel seen and valued. What may have started as a simple run often blossomed into meaningful connections, and it was his presence that turned these moments into something unforgettable.

Originally from Prince George, British Columbia, Jordan carried with him a sense of community that he shared effortlessly with others. His friendships were built on more than just running; they were rooted in mutual respect, kindness, and a shared love of movement. He fostered bonds that went beyond the pavement, creating a lasting impact on the lives of everyone he met.

Jordan was also a devoted son to his mother, Marlene, and a beloved brother to Ryan Malchow and Garrett Thoms. The love he had for his family was evident in everything he did, and the strength of those relationships shaped the incredible person so many of us came to admire. To his family, we extend our deepest condolences during this unimaginably painful time. While no words can ease such a loss, we hope you find comfort in knowing how deeply Jordan was loved and respected by his extended community.

In honor of his memory, a memorial run will be held, serving as a testament to the life he lived—one rooted in connection, movement, and togetherness. This event will reflect what Jordan built and the countless lives he touched with his encouragement, compassion, and camaraderie.

Though his time with us was far too brief, Jordan’s legacy will live on in every stride taken by those he inspired, in every new runner welcomed with kindness, and in every shared moment of encouragement along the way.

Jordan Thoms will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and always celebrated.

Disclaimer: Further details regarding the memorial run and other arrangements will be shared as they are confirmed.
